Emanuèle Rielbage is a PhD student in Sociology at the University of Cambridge.
Her research explores how ecological action takes shape through ecological garden initiatives. She investigates how material conditions, governance structures, and sensory practices interact to produce new ways of living and acting ecologically. Drawing on environmental sociology, intersectional political ecology, and the sociology of action, her work examines ecological gardens across French- and English-speaking contexts as experimental sites where relationships between humans and nonhumans are negotiated and redefined. Through this lens, she explores the strategies and reflections that inform a broader transition toward an ecology of coexistence.
Emanuèle holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) and a dual Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Political Science from Sorbonne University (Paris). She has also pursued postgraduate training in Socio-Anthropology (Sorbonne) and Research for Ecological Transition (École Normale Supérieure, ENS).
